Now in our 17th year, we hope this season will be better than ever for the great kids of Plain Township and surrounding areas. Opening day is Saturday, August 27. Your coaches have been contacting you to let you know when practice will be and when your first game is. If you haven't heard from your coach by now, please send us an email at comments@communitysoccerclub.com. While we don't have formal team pictures in the fall like we do in the spring, we are having Camera Day on September 10. Why don't you ask your child's coach if he or she wants you to organize this for your team? Bring your cameras, gather your team together before or after your game, and click away! We are continuing our effort to attract kids from the Canton city area, with the ultimate objective of helping the residents of Canton launch their own recreational soccer program. This fall, I know of at least two teams that are conducting their practices at Weis Park on 25th St. This helps to provide exposure of the program to a different part of the community, hopefully helping us to attract more kids. We are also working with a team from Canton South to have a "home-and-away" series for the Grade 7 & 8 group toward the end of the season. Nothing final yet, but we hope this will work out as planned. The Community Soccer Club operates best when we have lots of volunteers to perform vital services, especially coaching. If you are feeling the urge to get involved in a fun and worthwhile recreational experience, please consider signing up to be a coach or assistant coach for one of our teams. If you're not a coach now and want to learn about it, go to the coach of your child's team and offer to help. Then when next season comes around you'll be ready to answer the call. Also, we'll be having a coaching clinic before the start of the spring season to help get you started. Thanks! Our kids are depending on you! It is our goal to make youth recreational soccer in Plain Township a great experience for you and your kids. Let us know how we're doing by going to www.communitysoccerclub.com and sending us your comments.
