I've just finished adding over 150 new email addresses to the mailing list so I take that as evidence that interest in recreational soccer continues to grow in the greater Plain Township area. At last count we had approximately 600 chldren signed up to play this fall. For those of you that are new to the league (or at least new to the mailing list), welcome! We are happy to have you aboard and hope your kids will have a great soccer experience this fall playing with their Community Soccer Club team. I do want to direct your attention to our website (www.communitysoccerclub.com) not only because it's a great resource for all our members, but because we have just posted some changes to the game schedules. Affected age groups are Kindergarten and Grade 7 & 8. Coaches especially, please take note and make sure all your players and parents are aware of the changes. There are no changes to the Kindergarten schedule until week 4, but all Grade 7 & 8 players please note that you are to come at 8:30 this Saturday. Your coach should have already informed you of this at practice. Another change is that we had to increase the number of players for the Grade 1 & 2 league and the Girls League. Grade 1 & 2 teams will now play 8 v 8 (was originally announced 7 v 7) and Girls will play 11 v 11 (originally announced 9 v 9). If there are any questions about this come Saturday morning ask the referee or one of the board members. I must be honest and say that we had a very hard time getting enough coaches to cover all the teams this season. That is part of the reason we had to increase the number of players per team. It would be much preferable to reduce the number of players so teams can play on smaller sides and the children can have more interaction with the ball and game dynamics. Please consider signing up to be a Head Coach or Assistant Coach next spring. We need you! Oh, one more thing. Parking. I strongly urge you to park in the west lot (far end of the complex) as the east lot fills up rapidly and when people begin parking up on the grass and double parking and .. well, you know, it causes problems. Please try to help us manage this situation by parking in the west lot. Hey, think of all the extra exercise you're getting walking down to your field! It is our goal to make youth recreational soccer in Plain Township a great experience for you and your kids. Let us know how we're doing by going to www.communitysoccerclub.com and sending us your comments.
